December 2011

In December, we took a terrific ROAD TRIP!  We flew into Burbank CA, rented a car, drove to Oakland, spent a day in San Francisco, drove to Ft. Bragg and drove down the California coast, stopping when we felt like it and ended up in Disneyland for Christmas.  It was amazing, fun, a great photo opportunity, an a really fun way to spend the holiday.
Here are some of the street performers we saw while in San Francisco
From here we drove to Ft. Bragg/Mendocino area.  We had been in Medicino in 2003 for a wedding and loved the area, we spent 3 days there.

Okay, so they are out of order, but as you can see, we did, and saw a lot.
The sea elephant was really cool to see, there were lots of people watching and what I realized afterwards, was that most of the sea lions were on the shore giving birth, so the babies we saw were just born.
The restaurant balcony was in Downtown Disneyland.  It was Ralph Brennan's Jazz kitchen.  We had a great meal, in the Queen's balcony, were entertained by the street musicians and little kids dancing up a storm.  It was really fun, and a great way to celebrate our anniversary.
The next picture is the San Francisco street cars, they are fun to ride, and are manually turned, on each end of the route.  Hard to believe in this day and age!
Headlands coffee house is in Ft. Bragg, it is a cool little diner, it has a great friendly atmosphere.  People hang out with with a book and have one of many varieties of tea or coffee with some great homemade goodies.  It has a really laid back feeling.  We had been there in 2003 and nothing had changed.
Oceans and sunsets were one of the goals for this trip as far as photography went, so the next few shots are of that.
The pelican was in Monteray,
Next stop, Carmel. I love the mission in Carmel, it is beautiful.  There are flowers and buildings are really quaint, I took a lot of pictures here and they had a lot of Calla lilies.
Then we went to Cambria  and Solvang, a little Dutch town  and then we headed to Anaheim.
We spent Christmas day with 70,000 of our closest friends.  I had been to Disney World about 25 years ago and thought it was great.  I was not sure that Disneyland could measure up.  It sure did, we had a great day, we got there at 7:30AM when it opened and never left until after 10PM.  We spent most of the day in Disneyland, but were told we had to do a few things in California Adventure, so we ended the day there.  Hopefully we will get back there again and start in California Adventure.
Well that's a taste of our December to Remember.
Until next post, happy photography.
